Uruguay is undergoing an unprecedented change in its productive matrix. Since the approval of the Forestry Law in 1987, the forest area has increased more than thirty-fold and this expansion is expected to continue.
The exhibition understands the Forestry Law as an ecosystemic whole under construction that dialogues with diverse spatialities and territorialities. It is an invitation to debate and learn together about its implications in the processes of decarbonization and decolonization, and its capacity to turn Uruguay into a laboratory for the future of timber.
An avatar will interpret the Law in an opera by various authors, along with a series of visual pieces based on the spatialities of wood in Uruguay and musical irruptions of the new generation of Afro-Uruguayan artists.
